How it all started

The Birth of an Adventure

Eighteen years ago, True Wonder Books began as a quiet spark of an idea—a dream whispered between two parents who wanted more for their children’s imaginations. That spark eventually caught fire in a cramped upstairs bedroom, where a homeschool family, tired of hunting for stories that were both epic and doctrinally sound, decided to stop searching and start creating. We knew first-hand that finding resources that honor both the Truth of the King and the Wonder of His world felt like a quest for a hidden treasure. After years of parents asking for a map to help disciple their own “dragon slayers,” we finally opened the doors to the armory. Today, we aren’t just making books; we are inviting your family to join us in the theater of God’s glory.

The original crew of True Wonder Books. We aren’t just publishers; we’re a family on a mission to see the King’s glory in every story.

The Vision for True Wonder Books

A Generation Awakened.

“Our vision is to see a generation of children who stand firm in the Truth of the Gospel, walk with eyes wide open to the Wonder of God’s glory, and possess the courage to slay the dragons of their age.”

The Three Goals

To bring this vision to life, we are building a “Media House for the Home” centered on three long-term goals:

1. The Resurgence of the Family Altar We envision a world where the “once-upon-a-time” of family storytime is the direct bridge to the “thus saith the Lord” of family discipleship. We see parents moving from the sidelines to the front lines, feeling fully equipped to lead their children through both epic adventures and deep theological waters.

2. The Enchantment of Reality We aim to push back against a grey, materialistic world by showing children that reality is “enchanted” by the Creator. Our vision is that every child who reads a True Wonder book would never look at a forest, a star, or a neighbor the same way again—seeing them all as precise brushstrokes in God’s masterpiece.

3. The Armor of Apologetics In a culture of skepticism, we see a future where Christian youth don’t retreat in fear but engage with confidence. By embedding deep truths within high-stakes narratives, we are helping children build an “imaginative apologetic”—a heart-level certainty that the Story of God is the only story that truly satisfies.

“Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed.”
